Export Registration for Queensland

Application

For exporting treated timber to Queensland, you must follow the registration process with the Department of Primary Industries. Here’s what you need to do:

Complete the Application Form: This form includes the species and hazard level combinations you wish to register. Download the application form here.

Submit the Required Fees: The application fee is AUD 90.35 per hazard level.

Provide Timber Samples: You must submit 18 timber samples for each preservative and timber species type for which you are applying. These samples must meet the following criteria:

  • Treated to the highest hazard/retention level applied for.

  • At least 300mm in length, taken from separate boards.

  • Cut from no closer than 500mm from the end of the timber piece.

  • Contain sufficient sapwood for detailed analysis.

  • Marked with the applicable hazard and charge or pack number.

  • Representative of the material generally marketed or the largest size available.

Shipping of Samples:

Ensure that all samples are accompanied by the consignment note and relevant treatment or fumigation documentation, securely attached to the parcel’s exterior. This will facilitate customs and quarantine procedures in Australia.

Applicants are responsible for the shipping costs, and it is recommended to use a "door-to-door" service through a freight forwarder to avoid delays or rejection of samples.

Sample Analysis: Submitted samples will be analysed based on penetration and retention requirements. The cost for analysis is AUD 27.91 per sample (CCA) plus a batch fee of AUD 34.59. For 18 samples, the total cost would be AUD 536.97, in addition to the application fee.
