How to Become a WOODmark® Licensee

Becoming a WOODmark® licensee is a straightforward process that begins with your commitment to quality and compliance. Once you've met the initial requirements—such as paying the annual licence fee, receiving a positive assessment from your Technical Advisor, and signing the Licence Agreement—you'll be well on your way to joining New Zealand's premier timber treatment quality assurance programme.

Sign the Licence Agreement

Commit to maintaining the high standards set by the NZTPC by signing the Licence Agreement.

Install a Site Quality Manual

Implement a Site Quality Manual based on the Council’s Timber Preservation Quality Manual (TPQM). Your Technical Advisor will assist you in this process to ensure compliance.

Treat Timber to NZS3640 Standards

All timber must be treated in accordance with NZS3640: 2003, the standard for chemical preservation of round and sawn timber in New Zealand.

Comply with Best Practice Guidelines

Adhere to the Best Practice Guidelines for Timber Preservative and Antisapstain Chemicals to ensure the highest treatment quality.

Regular Auditing & Sampling

Agree to regular sampling, analysis, and auditing by the Council’s contractors to ensure ongoing compliance with WOODMark® standards.

Pay the Fees

A yearly licence fee of $200 + GST is required, along with a levy based on the active elements of the preservative used. This levy is remitted to the Council by your chemical supplier.
