16 December 2005

The Best Practice Guideline for the Safe Use of Timber Preservatives & Antisapstain Chemicals describes requirements for the design and operation of plants using these chemicals that will satisfy New Zealand legislation for health and safety in the workplace and protection of the environment.

The Guideline is the result of work undertaken by a committee of representatives from the timber industry, unions, Department of Labour, ERMA and local government.

The Guideline is endorsed by Department of Labour and ERMA as a means of complying with relevant parts of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, the Hazardous Substances & New Organisms Act 1996 and aspects of the Resource Management Act 1991.

A copy of the Best Practice Guideline can be found in the publications section of this website.
