Treatment Tank Certification

Treatment Tank Certification

Recently the TPC held a meeting to discuss tank certification. This was to aid the industry in becoming compliant in the most efficient and cost effective manner to meet OSH and HSNO requirements. This meeting included representation from OSH, ERMA, Engineering companies, chemical suppliers and of course the TPC.

The compliance date for tank certification of stationary bulk containers and pressure vessels is rapidly advancing and industry needs to meet the requirements as set out in HSNO and OSH Regulations.

Under the Hazardous Substances (Dangerous Goods and Scheduled Toxic Substances) Transfer Notice 2004 both pressure vessels and stationary bulk containers need to be assessed by 31 March 2006 and obtain compliance by 31 March 2007.

Also, nearly in effect, is the release of the Best Practice Guideline which will require annual pressure vessel certification under the Code of Practice for pressure equipment. If this is something you are already doing through M & I (Marine & Industrial) the status quo applies and you should therefore continue to do so. If not - you will be required to have an evaluation of your pressure vessel which will be based on original design specs. This will lead on to a rectification (if required) and certification process.

To enable the TPC to progress further for the assistance of licensees, we will require information from your company on your treatment plant status and certification requirements.

Please download the survey document (71kb PDF) to be completed fully and returned back by fax or mail to:

Once this information is condensed into a central database we should then be in a position to assess this information and in turn, provide a service to all licensees for your stationary bulk containers and pressure vessels certification requirements.
